Blue Bloods, Melissa De La Cruz, Hyperion, 302 Pages

I’d heard good things about this series but hadn’t had the desire to pick it up until recently.

I started reading Blue Bloods and had to put it down for a couple of days to get things done around my house and wasn’t that feverish to pick it back up again. It was kind of an “eh” for me.

That is until I got probably 100 pages or so into it. That’s when for me the story picked up and whereas it didn’t blow me away it kept me fascinated and picking it up every chance I could.

The story is a unique take on vampirism and I never saw the twists or the plot going where it did until it got there. Very clever use of history, very clever use of true accounts from the Bible and settling in America. It kept me so interested.

Well written, well thought out, well crafted.

The characters were likeable/unlikeable enough. Not one stood out to me more than any other. I felt, though, that I had the feelings I was supposed to towards them with how they were written.

I also have to say that where I usually end my reviews with a quote or three from the book, sadly nothing stood out to me in this book.

There weren’t any funny quotes and there weren’t any romantic ones. Not that those are the only ones but I suppose that’s what I remember the most. And the ones from this book that I can think of would give too much away. So...

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am starting Masquerade tonight...so go get your own copy and enjoy.
